Biometric Data Retention and Destruction Policy
Last updated
Published as a standalone document because Illinois BIPA §15(a) requires a publicly available written retention and destruction schedule. This is that schedule.
1. Purpose. This policy describes how KNK Consulting LLC handles photographs that may contain biometric information, and our schedule for their permanent destruction.
2. What we process. We process photographs uploaded by users for the sole purpose of generating stylised portrait images at the user’s request.
3. What we do not do. We do not collect, capture, purchase, receive through trade, or otherwise obtain biometric identifiers or biometric information for identification purposes. We do not create or store facial geometry scans, face templates, face embeddings, or biometric vectors. We do not use any image to identify, verify, authenticate, or recognise any individual. We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric data. We do not disclose biometric data except to the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy, solely to deliver the requested service.
4. Consent. We obtain written, informed, affirmative consent from every user before any photograph is uploaded. That consent discloses the purpose of processing and the retention period, and confirms the user has authority to consent on behalf of every person depicted, including a parent or guardian’s authority for any minor.
5. Retention and destruction schedule.
| Data | Destroyed |
|---|---|
| Uploaded source photographs | Permanently deleted within 24 hours of upload |
| Generated output images | Permanently deleted 30 days after generation |
| Biometric identifiers or templates | None are ever created or stored |
| Consent records (no images) | Retained 3 years as evidence of lawful processing |
Destruction is automated and occurs regardless of whether the user requests it, and in all cases no later than the earlier of the schedule above or the satisfaction of the purpose of collection.
