GrayDrop gets Worldwide Recognition as Top 4 Indian Tech Innovations in Leaders In Innovation Fellowship in London, UK, February 2015


CIIE at IIM Ahmedabad partnered with The Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE), London to support the finalists of Power of Ideas to give them global exposure. The LIF programme hand picks innovators from selected partner countries for an intensive residential course in entrepreneurship and research commercialisation. The participants gets access to the Academy’s network of investors, entrepreneurs and past fellows at the Enterprise Hub.

RAE has selected 17 early-stage scientific/hard-tech innovations that have high impact potential in India. Each participant travelled to UK for a 2 week residential programme with the primary objective of capacity building (through training and mentoring) with additional emphasis on commercialisation of their research. A wider benefit of the programme was the creation of international networks of innovators and technology entrepreneurs.

Mumbai-based mobility solutions provider Gray Routes Innovative Distribution LLC has raised $100,000 (Rs 59.5 lakh) in angel funding from a group of unnamed angel investors in Bangalore and Silicon Valley. The capital raised will be utilised for fresh hiring and patenting some of the solutions developed by the company. The funding was first reported by

Mumbai startup Gray Routes has mobile solutions for big FMCG problems

“Large enterprises across sectors, not just FMCG, face problems monitoring distribution and delivery networks,” says Sahoo, an IIT Kharagpur and IIM Ahmedabad alumnus. He and co-founder Patel, who earlier worked at Google and was vice president of business development of IIT Bombay-incubated startup InOpen Technologies, started incubating the idea last June.


To keep costs down, and especially to make the solutions affordable for rural markets, the company is using cost effective Android solutions that can be deployed on low-cost smartphones.
